Nov 3, 1:30-2:30pm

This special panel discussion will feature youth and adults engaged with bringing Anne Frank’s story, and that of the Holocaust more broadly, to diverse people across the world.
What if Anne Frank had been a vlogger? We find out through two very special guests for this event: Luna Cruz Perez, star of ANNE FRANK VIDEO DIARY from Amsterdam’s Anne Frank Huis, and Menno Metselaar, author of Anne Frank: Her life in words and pictures from the archives of The Anne Frank House (1999, 2009).
Dr. Robert Krell, Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver also joins our guest panel. Dr. Krell is a holocaust survivor from The Hague. He survived the Holocaust in hiding with a Christian family from the age of two to five and then returned to his parents, who had also survived in hiding. In 1951, the Krells moved to Vancouver, British Columbia.
Jenifer Reads offers a unique narrative and engages through an Indigenous lens with a literary classic which has been translated into sixty languages and read by hundreds of millions of people. An interactive platform will showcase video broadcasts featuring youth readers from diverse Canadian communities engaging with Anne Frank’s story. This important literary work serves as an anchor for a collaborative reflection of how we might share, connect, grieve, remember, and live our lives as active citizens.
